AGHE Pakistan is seeking applications for its donor funded project from qualified, dedicated, and high caliber candidates for the following positions on urgent basis:
 Project Coordinator (One Position) Giligt Based
The position shall be responsible to manage implementation of the AGHE project/s providing the necessary leadership, technical assistance and daily management of all staff of the Project. His/hers key responsibilities shall:
 
Major Responsibilities
·          Develop detailed implementation plans for the project reflecting required tasks, timeframe for implementation, financial requirements and task assignments.
·          Provide technical coordination to the project team to conduct project’s activities on timely and effective manner as per the Implementation Plan.
·          Guide and promote professional development of the staff through in service training and training courses for updating and up-grading of the technical skills of the project staff.
·          With the approval of Manager Program/Operation, represent the AGHE Pakistan and its program at professional meetings, workshops and conferences that are deemed to be useful to AGHE.
·          Actively participate in the preparation and conduct of monitoring and evaluation activities and need assessment surveys within the implementation areas.
·          Participate in staff hiring process along with the deputed with assistance and guidance from HR Department.
·          Manage the project budget according to the donor requirements and budget estimates.
·          Manage project’s staff according to AGHE HR Policy
·          Document and submit timely financial reports, field reports, and periodic progress reports on project activities to immediate supervisor following required reporting guidelines approved by the AGHE.
·          Actively involved in the procurements process of the materials required for the implementation of the project’s interventions with Procurement Department.
·          Understand and incorporate AGHE policies into all sectors of work.
 Qualification
·          Master’s degree in a relevant discipline, i.e. Social Science, gender or development studies, or a related field.
·           Minimum 3-5 years experience of working with an NGO at a managerial level
·          Computer proficiency MS Word, PowerPoint, competency in using emails and internet etc
·           Excellent communication and writing skills in English & Urdu.
·           Willingness and ability to travel within the region and beyond.
·          Demonstrated ability in collaborative/team work
Community Mobilizer (02 Positions) One in Gilgit Based & One in Baltistan Based
He/She will be responsible to work, conduct and report on following activities under the supervision of Project Coordinator:
 
Major Responsibilities
·          Enhance community awareness about gender based violence against women.
·          Mobilize community for the project activities and participation in the workshops, events etc. 
·          Assist in planning and implementing of distributions of IEC material.
·          Provide support to the project team to organize effective meetings with the communities and ensure follow up at all levels.
·          Provide support to communities to arrange transport and logistic support to attend workshops, training programs etc
·          Assist the project coordinator to organize, monitor and provide feedback on district/tehsil or community level activities which are assigned to him/ her when required.
·          In addition to above said duties, perform any other activities assigned by the project coordinator.
Qualification
·          Graduation in any discipline
·          2-3 years experience in development sector
·          Excellent communication skills
·          Knowledge of MS Office
·          Team player

AGHE Pakistan launched Celebrating Happy Times Together on the happy occasion of Eid al-Adha 2011

AGHE Pakistan in collaboration with some local faith-based organization formally launched a project titled as “Celebrating Happy Times Together” (CHTT) on the happy occasion of Eid al-Adha which is a festival of sacrifice or greater Eid (happiness time) celebrated by Muslim worldwide on the 10th day of the 12th and the last Islamic month of Dhu al Hijjah of the lunar Islamic calendar.

The basic purpose of this project is to bridging the gaps between different religious communities and promoting inter-faith harmony and cultural diversity in Pakistan.
 
Major activities of CHTT Project are:
 
1.      Involving different religions’ communities on the time of happy occasions of different religious i.e. Eid, Charismas, Dewali etc to create an environment for acceptance, tolerance, respecting others creeds and faiths by distribution of gifts, sacrificial meat and sweets.
2.      Organizing events on the occasions of religious festivals.
3.      Create a space for dialogue, initiatives for peace, communal and social dignity involving policy makers, leaders and change makers.
4.      Organizing peace sports programs, music and art shows.
 
The project “Celebrating Happy Times Together” was inaugurated by distribution of sacrificial meat amongst the 300 poor Christian families residing in Kachi Bastian surrounding the Islamabad and Rawalpindi cities.    The meat was gifted by the Muslim philanthropist and well-off families especially for the CHTT project and to distribute among the poor Christian families.
AGHE Pakistan launched Child Rights’ Advocacy Campaign on November 1, 2011 at Country Level

AGHE Pakistan launched a one month’s Child Rights’ Advocacy Campaign on November 1, 2011 with special reference of Universal Children Day.  The basic purpose this Campaign is to create awareness at mass level on the rights of children in Pakistan through print and electronic media and to sensitize and heighten the knowledge of teachers by teachers and parents about worse impacts of corporal punishment and other forms of school and domestic based violence against children.

On this occasion, Miss Samina Khan, vice-president and head Women & Children Section of AGHE informed the media persons that the main target of this campaign is to record 10000 messages of school teachers about children rights and against school and domestic based violence against children. She further said that AGHE will relay the recorded messages on air through FM Radio stations and TV cable networks from various cities on 20th November 2011. She requested the local and national NGOs, CBOs and social activists and volunteers to join the AGHE campaign and pursue more and more teachers to record their messages.

AGHE Pakistan Strongly Urges the Government of Gilgit-Baltistan to Stop Women\'s Suicide Incidents

AGHE Pakistan requested urgent intervention of the Government of Gilgit-Baltistan to ensure immediate investigation of increasing suicide incidents in district Ghizer. Four mysterious suicide incidents of women have been reported in October 2011.   

Local print media has reported dozens cases of suicides of women in Ghizer district which have been neither highlighted nor investigated by the provincial government. In many of these cases, the victims have faced domestic violence and in some cases women are murdered under the cover of suicides. AGHE has continuously urged the state of Pakistan regarding the necessity of adopting a post-pomatum mechanism of the victims and proper investigation of the suicide incidents.

AGHE Pakistan in collaboration with Women Development Directorate of Gilgit-Baltistan is leading a Women’s Mobilization Program to provide technical assist to the businesswomen, women entrepreneurs and exporters to be part of an interactive online portal and to get maximum benefit from the Portal to market their products and service online for free, in local, national and international market. Trade Portal for Women Entrepreneurs is basically a unique and innovative project, launched by USAID to help women-owned businesses in Pakistan to expand their scope in local and international markets.

AGHE Calls for Comprehensive Legislation on the Issue of Older Persons

President of AGHE Pakistan, Syed Ijaz Hussain called for comprehensive legislation on the issue of older persons during a seminar held in Gilgit-Baltistan House Islamabad. He ensured the parliamentarians of Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly and Council to provide technical assistance in this regard.

Senior Citizen in Gilgit-Baltistan will enjoy a discount of 10-50% when travelling on the Buses of Northern Areas Transport Corporation (NATCO)., the senior officer of the company announced on 1st October 2011 during a Seminar held in Islamabad under the theme “Transport Accessibility for the Older Persons”. The Seminar was organized by AGHE Pakistan & IIKMAD in collaboration with Help Age International Pakistan. Seminar was the part of the advocacy campaign of AGHE for promotion of older persons’ rights.
